Borja Castillejo Calvo, a writer and independent film critic based in Spain, and founder of Cinesinfin, has written a great review of Hole in the Head. He calls the film "tremendously innovative" and an "evolution" of previous work, adding that the visual and sonic textures create their own "atmospheric time".

Hole in the Head is "cinema in a maelstrom" where "each format used has a landscape quality, a place with its own narrative potential, and therefore traveling from one [format] to another is a dramatic gesture in itself".
